(Disclaimer: The content in this video is intended for educational and informational purposes only.) On May 10th, 2024, a detective watched a vehicle blow through four red lights — then a fifth — before he got behind it and hit his lights. When he reached the window he made something clear right away — he was not there to write a ticket. He just needed a license check and everyone could go home. That was never going to happen. The driver had no license and no photo ID. While the detective ran her information, he noticed something else — kids in the back seat. When her name came back with active warrants he made a deliberate choice. Pull her aside. Tell her quietly. Handle this away from the children. She refused to hear any of it. She told him don't touch her. She told him she wasn't getting out of the car. She asked why over and over while officers stood at her door trying to give her every possible opportunity to do this the easy way. After several minutes of refusals officers had no choice — they physically removed her from the vehicle in front of her children. The exact moment the detective had been trying to prevent from the very beginning. Once she was out and in cuffs the search began. Warrants came back for possession of marijuana and disorderly conduct. She said it was all dissolved. Then officers found pills in her right pocket. They thought ibuprofen at first. Then one officer checked the markings — IP 204. Oxycodone. Pulled directly from her pocket on bodycam. From the back of that squad car she demanded names, called officers dirty, and declared she would not comply for a single moment. Before she was taken away the detective walked over to her mother standing on the sidewalk and apologized — he had tried not to let it happen in front of the kids. It happened anyway.
