On August 23, 2025, Las Cruces Police Officer Scarbrough observed a vehicle commit several traffic violations. He initiated a traffic stop on the vehicle, which was being driven by a 43-year-old woman, who had several dogs in the vehicle with her. The woman admitted consuming alcohol and smoking cannabis earlier in the evening. As a result, she was asked to perform standardized field sobriety tests.
