The 2017 Dodge Journey was going 50 MPH in a 30 MPH zone. This happened on Route 176 near Osage Street. Officer Finze turned his car around. He clocked the Dodge at 46 MPH. The car then made a wide turn onto S Main Street. Officer Finze used his lights to stop the vehicle. The driver pulled over at the Wauconda Police Department. He approached the driver, Jennifer Lee. Officer Finze noticed signs she might be impaired. Lee said she was coming from Alta Rehab. Her records later showed three prior DUI arrests. Officer Lily Meyer-Volinek arrived. Officer Finze searched the car. He found syringes and other illegal items. Based on her driving, signs of impairment, and the car's contents, Officer Finze arrested Jennifer. He arrested her for driving under the influence. She was handcuffed. Officers walked her to the police station. Her car was not towed. It was inventoried. Then it was parked at the station. At the station, Officer Meyer-Volinek read her the Warning to Motorist. Jennifer refused to give breath samples. Officer Yaeger from Vernon Hills came to give a DRE exam. Afterward, Officer Valkenaar from Libertyville arrived. He is a trained phlebotomist. He took blood samples. After processing at the station, Officers Wich and Arteaga drove her to Lake County Courthouse. She faced several charges. These included aggravated DUI for a third or subsequent offense. She was also charged with aggravated DUI for driving with a suspended license.
