On March 31, 2024, at approximately 1:15 a.m., Police Officers Cynthia Rivera and Teddy Santiago responded to the area of 15th Street and Park Avenue on reports of a motor vehicle accident. When they arrived, they saw one car with heavy front-end damage and the airbag deployed and it appeared the vehicle had hit a wooden utility pole. Two of the passengers were taken to an area hospital; one with a severe cut on her head and the other after vomiting and complaining of neck pain. A third passenger was treated on the scene for shoulder pain by the Hoboken Volunteer Ambulance Corps. Officers smelled a strong odor of alcoholic beverages emanating from the breath of the driver, identified as 25-year-old Yesenia Sandoval of Union City. She was given a series of field sobriety tests after which she was arrested for driving while intoxicated. She was also charged with reckless driving, refusal to submit a breath test, and two counts of assault by auto. As per John’s Law she was released into the custody of a responsible party. #hoboken #dwi #BlueLineLens
