Please like, comment, and SHARE! 🙏 🔍 Episode Overview: So, on May 3, 2024, around 5:53 pm, Officer Charles Keenan from the Elmwood Park Police Department got a call about a car crash at Mola Boulevard and Lincoln Avenue. When he got there, he saw a guy stuck in a car and told him that the fire department was on the way. He checked out all the messed-up cars and then looked at this black Honda Accord about 500 feet north of Godwin Avenue. People pointed to the guy who was driving the Honda, and turns out, he's a 29-year-old named Jean Lizardo. Officer Keenan was talking to Jean and he totally smelled alcohol on Jean and saw signs that Jean was out of it. Other people also told the cops that Jean was probably drunk. Since Jean caused a big car crash and Officer Keenan thought Jean was wasted, he asked Jean to do some sobriety tests, and Jean was like, "Yeah, sure, I'll do it." Officer Keenan initiated the Horizontal Gaze Nystagmus (HGN) evaluation. During the assessment, Officer Keenan noted the absence of smooth pursuit, distinct and sustained nystagmus at maximum deviation, and the onset of nystagmus prior to 45 degrees. The subsequent evaluation involved the Walk and Turn test, during which Jean failed to maintain heel-to-toe contact on each step and encountered difficulty during the turning phase. The One Leg Stand test was the final assessment, which was discontinued prematurely by Officer Keenan due to safety concerns as Jean was unable to complete it. Upon investigation of the motor vehicle accident involving 8 vehicles, and considering witness accounts, the presence of alcohol odor, and the driver's inability to successfully complete the field sobriety exercise, Officer Keenan made the decision to arrest the individual for driving while intoxicated. Following the arrest, Officer Hanz Brady transported the individual to the Elmwood Park Police Department for further processing. Additionally, several individuals involved in the accident were conveyed to the hospital due to the severity of their injuries. At the police headquarters, Jean underwent a thorough search and was subsequently confined in a cell. Following initial interrogation regarding the incident, Officer Wendy Tinio proceeded to apprise him of the Standard Statement for Motor Vehicle Operators, to which Jean assented and obliged to providing breath samples. The Alcotest apparatus was administered by Officer Michael Mulligan, revealing a blood alcohol concentration (BAC) of 0.16%, which exceeded the legal limit of 0.08% by twofold. Following processing, Jean was released into the custody of a responsible sober adult pending his court appearance, subsequent to the said adult signing the Potential Liability Warning form on his behalf. Officer Keenan issued Jean with summonses for Operating under the influence, reckless driving, careless driving, and unsafe operation.
