Officers were dispatched to a restaurant at Airside A of the Tampa International Airport to address a situation involving a heavily intoxicated patron. The individual had consumed several alcoholic beverages but was unable to settle the bill because their bank card continuously declined. A restaurant manager decided not to pursue theft charges and simply wanted the patron removed. An airline manager also informed the individual that they were prohibited from boarding their scheduled flight to New York due to their visible intoxication. Despite being offered a chance to leave peacefully with a friend who was on the way, the patron stubbornly refused to exit the airside area. The situation quickly deteriorated as the individual began yelling, crying, and issuing threats toward the responding officers. This erratic behavior caused significant distress among nearby passengers and airline staff. Left with no other options, officers placed the unruly traveler under arrest for disorderly intoxication and transported them to a county detention facility for processing. These charges are merely accusations and the defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty. An arrest is not a finding of guilt: that’s something for a court to decide.
