On May 10, 2024, Rio Rancho Police Officer Roskos observed a vehicle with expired registration. He later observed the vehicle speeding. He initiated a traffic stop on the vehicle, which was being driven by a 23-year-old woman. Her 34-year-old fiancé and 1-year-old baby were also in the vehicle. Officer Roskos mentioned that he could smell alcohol coming from the vehicle, but the woman denied drinking. Nonetheless, she was asked to step out of the vehicle in order to perform standardized field sobriety tests. At the conclusion of the tests, she was placed under arrest for Driving While Under the Influence (DWI). Her fiancé then exited the vehicle in an attempt to talk to the woman. He was arrested for Interfering with Officers. The woman was transported to the Rio Rancho Police Station, where she submitted to an evidential breath test. The result was 0.20% BAC.
