At about 2:00PM in the afternoon on Monday, Aprill 22, 2024, the Massachusetts State Police’s Air Wing 5 began following a stolen vehicle that had fled from officers in the Natick area including Westwood and Dedham. The suspect vehicle, a 2002 Lexus IS, was previously stolen out of Peabody, MA. State Police Troop H was advised by the Air Wing that the vehicle was traveling West on Rte 9, passing through Southborough and Westborough, before merging onto Rte 495 North. Troopers in the area began working to intercept the vehicle while the Air Wing continued providing updated locations of the vehicle. At 2:08 PM, the Air Wing notified units on the ground that the vehicle was on Rte 495 North passing Rte 290, and had taken an exit onto Rte 117 in Bolton, MA. As 2 State Police K-9’s responded to the area, one located the vehicle as it reversed direction and got back onto Rte 495 South. By this point, MSP Troop C had taken over the pursuit. The vehicle later got onto Rte 290 West from Rte 495 South in the area of Marlborough. It was later determined that the suspect had struck 2 vehicles on the ramp at this time. Around this same time, Troopers began setting up stop-sticks on Rte 290 West between Green Street and Solomon Pond Road on the border between Marlborough and Northborough. After a successful deployment of the stop sticks, the vehicle crashed into another vehicle before leaving the roadway and crashing into the median. No injuries were reported in the vehicle the suspect struck. Troopers quickly apprehended 3 occupants of the stolen vehicle. Two occupants were transported to UMass Medical Center with reported minor injuries. A third occupant, who is a juvenile, was taken to the Leominster Barracks for booking.
