Please like, comment, and SHARE! 🙏 🔍 Episode Overview: Around 12:32 a.m. on December 21, 2025, Officer Christian Leach of the Mount Olive Police Department went to St. James Avenue after a report of a woman trying to leave a hit-and-run crash. He first spoke with Jeffrey Horsley. Horsley said another driver tried to pass him improperly on Gold Mine Road and struck the passenger side of his vehicle. His 2013 Ford Taurus had visible damage on the driver’s side. Officer Leach then approached the driver of the black 2016 Nissan Rogue, which was accused of hitting the Taurus. The driver, later identified as Ashley Vega, said she did not remember striking Horsley’s car. While speaking with her, Officer Leach noticed signs of impairment. Vega said she was going to her daughter’s boyfriend’s house and later admitted drinking at a club in Elizabeth, New Jersey. Because he suspected she was impaired, Officer Leach asked her to complete field sobriety tests. Vega first took the Horizontal Gaze Nystagmus test, followed by the Walk and Turn. During the Walk and Turn, she failed to touch heel-to-toe, made an improper turn, and did not keep her arms at her sides. She then performed the One Leg Stand. During that test, Vega failed to lift her foot correctly. After considering the crash, Vega’s admission that she had been drinking earlier, and her poor performance on the sobriety tests, Officer Leach arrested her for driving under the influence. Her vehicle was not held for the required 12 hours under John’s Law because her daughter accepted responsibility for it. Officer Leach took Vega to the Mount Olive Police Department for processing. There, officers read her the Standard Statement for Motor Vehicle Operators, and she agreed to provide breath samples. The Alcotest showed a blood alcohol concentration of 0.16%, twice the legal limit of 0.08%. Once processing ended, Vega was released to her daughter pending a court appearance. Her daughter signed the Potential Liability Warning form on Vega’s behalf.
