It really helps us do original reporting like this. 🔍 Episode Overview: At 12:05 AM on June 13, 2025, Officer Nicole Kaneshige saw a problem. A car was blocking an intersection near Route 206 South and Old Dutch Road East. She had noticed this car earlier. It was a red 2024 Mazda CX5. It sat sideways at a stop sign. The car seemed empty. But the driver was asleep inside. Officer Kaneshige called for backup. She alerted the Bedminster Township Police. She tapped on the window to wake the driver. The window rolled down. Officer Kaneshige smelled alcohol. She saw open drink containers. The driver was Celia Peri, age 23. She said she came from Jersey City. She denied drinking that night. Sergeant Jeffrey Veltri and Officer Liam McCann arrived. They saw it wasn't an emergency. The ambulance was canceled. Celia showed a card from law enforcement family. Officer Kaneshige told her it was not needed. Detective Adam Caruso also showed up. Officer Kaneshige checked Celia's information. Celia showed signs of impairment. She was asked to get out of the car. She would perform sobriety tests. Officer Kaneshige started the eye test. Celia's eyes did not track smoothly. They twitched. The next test was walking and turning. Celia missed steps. Her turns were wrong. The last test was standing on one foot. Celia couldn't hold her foot up. She put it down too soon. Based on her signs, the smell of alcohol, the open containers, and her poor performance on tests, Celia was arrested. She was charged with drunk driving. Her car was towed. It would be held for 12 hours. Officer Kaneshige took Celia to the police station. She read Celia her rights. Celia agreed to a breath test. Her blood alcohol content was 0.17%. This is over twice the legal limit. Celia was released to a friend. She has a court date. Officer Kaneshige gave Celia tickets for: Driving under the influence. Reckless driving. Careless driving.
