On March 22, 2024, Franklin County Sheriff's Deputy Gwinn was impounding a vehicle when an unlicensed 20-year-old woman backed up into his patrol vehicle. A few seconds later, she fled the scene at speeds in excess of 95 miles per hour. Within minutes, she crashed into an electrical pole and bus structure (all captured on police dash camera footage). It was then revealed that there was a 2-year-old child in the car. Ambulances were dispatched to take the four passengers to the hospital. The driver, however, was unharmed. While searching the vehicle, deputies found a little surprise in the backseat. The driver was indicted on a felony count of Failure to Comply with an Order or Signal and a misdemeanor count of Endangering a Child. All suspects are presumed to be innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
