On March 14, 2025, Officer Haughney was dispatched to an intersection in Rio Rancho to investigate a report of a possible drunk driver. He located the vehicle and after observing the driver commit a traffic violation, he initiated a traffic stop. The police report indicated that the 67-year-old female driver failed to stop until Officer Lorenz positioned his police vehicle in front of the woman's vehicle. The woman initially denied consuming alcohol, but Officer Haughney requested her to step out of the vehicle in order to perform standardized field sobriety tests. The woman was ultimately arrested for her 3rd DUI. At the Rio Rancho Police Station, she refused to submit to a breath test.
