A routine traffic stop quickly turned into a dangerous, cross-state motorcycle pursuit after a rider refused to stop for speeding. On **July 24, 2026**, an Arkansas State Trooper clocked a motorcycle traveling **69 mph in a 55 mph zone** on U.S. Highway 70 near Mud Creek. When the trooper attempted to initiate a traffic stop, the rider accelerated to speeds of approximately **96 mph**, prompting a high-speed pursuit. As the chase crossed into **Oklahoma**, the motorcyclist drove recklessly, including briefly entering the opposite lane of travel before attempting to negotiate a turn onto Westline Road. After missing the turn, the rider regained control, made a U-turn, and continued onto the gravel roadway. Moments later, while attempting to navigate a curve, the rider lost control of the motorcycle, left the roadway, struck an embankment, and crashed into a tree. Expecting serious injuries, the trooper rushed to the crash scene only to discover the rider had already fled on foot into the nearby woods. Investigators found the crash scene littered with evidence, including both of the rider's shoes—one of which was embedded in the motorcycle—as well as the helmet's face shield, a Coors Light bottle cap, a spotlight, the rider's helmet, and a container of Armor All wipes dropped along the escape route. Because the pursuit ended in Oklahoma, the Oklahoma Highway Patrol responded to investigate the crash and coordinate the recovery of the motorcycle while Arkansas State Police handled the pursuit investigation.
