Responding to a reported hit-and-run incident, deputies located a silver 2018 Subaru WRX STI with extensive front-end damage, abandoned at a movie theater entrance approximately half a mile from the crash site. The individual found in the driver's seat, with the vehicle's keys in his pocket, admitted to consuming both alcohol and marijuana, yet offered a series of inconsistent statements regarding the driver's identity. His narrative shifted from claiming a female driver, to an unnamed childhood friend, and finally to an unknown individual. Officers observed clear signs of severe intoxication, as the individual repeatedly lost balance and fell, prompting the termination of field sobriety tests due to his inability to follow instructions and significant safety concerns. Further investigation revealed a passenger nearby with a hand injury consistent with blood found inside the crashed vehicle, who confirmed the individual found in the driver's seat was indeed operating the vehicle. During transport for medical clearance, the individual's question, "did they snitch on me," served as an additional self-incriminating statement.
