https://www.krqe.com/news/crime/bcso-deadly-crash-caused-by-wrong-way-driver/ https://www.krqe.com/news/crime/new-mexico-woman-sentenced-for-fatal-wrong-way-crash/ On June 5, 2024, Rio Rancho Police Officers were dispatched to a drunk driving Be On The Lookout (BOLO) after receiving a call from Whataburger that a female driver had passed out behind the wheel. By the time officers arrived, the woman had driven off. However, Officer Bartlett located the vehicle parked in the break down lane nearby. He made contact with the 42-year-old driver, who admitted to consuming alcohol. She was asked to perform standardized field sobriety tests, but they were cut short, when she poked Officer Lopez in the chest. She was placed under arrest and was transported to the Rio Rancho Police Station. She submitted to an evidential breath test and the results were 0.18% and 0.20% BAC. She then made a surprise admission that she was facing vehicular homicide charges for a previous drunk driving arrest (she has since been sentenced to 5 years in prison). Her charges and the outcome of the case depicted in this video are discussed at the end of the video.
