I-10 W MM 105 near Akela, New Mexico- On Wednesday, October 28, 2020 NMSP dispatch received a 911 call stating a passerby witnessed a yound child being assaulted on I-10 westbound at about mile marker 105. NMSP patrolman, Darian Jarrott was at the district 12 office in Deming, NM when the call came in. Officer Jarrott responded to the scene and began talking to the mother and father of the kids. The parents had stated they were driving back home to Tucson, AZ after a trip to Flordia. During the trip back home one of their vehicles had a tire blow out. After stopping one of the young kids got out of the driver side of the car, as traffic was passing. One of the older siblings saw this and yanked the young child back to the shoulder to prevent him from being hit. During that time is when the passerby witnessed the reported assault. After officer Jarrott talked with the parents and determined no assault had taken place, he advised Luna county deputies who also responded than nothing had taken place. Officer Jarrott advised the family he would wait with them to help keep traffic over in order to prevent a passing car from hitting the family while waiting for a tow truck. Officer Jarrott waited with the family for over 30 additional minutes until a tow truck arrived. Officer Jarrott could have left the family to go back to the Deming office but instead he put his paperwork and other dutys aside to ensure the safety of the family. I am showing all bodycam from him in the time he was an officer to show who officer Jarrott was. Officer Jarrott was gunned down along I-10 on February 4, 2021 east of Deming, NM. I made a full documentary on the events of that day and show how Jarrott was essentially sent into an ambush by a federal agency (Department of Homeland Security to be exact) without providing critical information on a convicted felon who was trafficking drugs while armed with multiple guns (including rifles) and was desperate not to go back to prison. Had Jarrott had that information it would have allowed officer Jarrott to save his own life. For more information please watch this documentary of mine that shows you the events of that day. https://youtu.be/NqxTf-Vz12o
