It really helps us do original reporting like this. 🔍 Episode Overview: At approximately 1:37 AM on August 6, 2023, Officer Patrick Reeves from the Delran Police saw a black 2014 Nissan weaving across lanes on Route 130 North. He pulled the vehicle over to speak with the driver, identified as 24-year-old Alexis. While talking, the officer noticed open containers inside the car. Alexis said she was headed home after leaving Vera, a nightclub in Cherry Hill, and she admitted to drinking earlier that night. Sensing she might be drunk, the officer asked Alexis to step out for a field sobriety test. The first test was the Horizontal Gaze Nystagmus (HGN). The second was the Walk and Turn test. During this, Alexis failed to touch heel-to-toe and made mistakes when turning. The third test was the One Leg Stand. She did not lift her foot properly during this exercise. Because of her reckless driving, her admission to drinking, the open containers, and her poor performance on the tests, Officer Reeves arrested Alexis for DUI. Her car was towed and held for 12 hours under John’s Law. He took her to the police station for processing. At the station, Alexis was read the Standard Statement for Motor Vehicle Operators. She agreed to provide breath samples. Her Alcotest results showed a BAC of 0.13%, which is over the legal limit of 0.08%. She was released to her sister after signing a form that warned her about possible liability. She also received citations for driving under the influence, reckless driving, careless driving, and unsafe lane changes. On April 17, 2024, court records say Alexis pleaded guilty to DUI. Because of her plea, she spent 12 hours at a driver’s resource center. She also had to keep an ignition interlock device in her car for seven months and pay $690 in fines.
