A late-night traffic stop escalates when erratic driving leads to an officer's suspicion of impairment, culminating in a series of failed roadside evaluations. At approximately 4:18 AM, an officer initiated a traffic stop after observing a vehicle driving erratically, crossing the center line, speeding, and nearly causing a collision. Upon interaction, the officer detected signs of impairment and the odor of alcohol, prompting a request for voluntary field sobriety exercises. Despite initially denying alcohol consumption, the driver later admitted to drinking, leading to a series of evaluations including the Horizontal Gaze Nystagmus test, a Walk and Turn test where she walked backward, and a One Leg Stand test where she counted to 22 in 30 seconds. Following these performance failures and a preliminary breath test result of 0.125%, the driver was placed under arrest for driving under the influence.
