Phoenix police have fired and arrested former officers Luis Vasquez Jr. and Antonio Felix following an alleged violent, off-the-books traffic stop in South Phoenix. Police Chief Matt Giordano says the officers were on duty, a Taser was used and Automatic Vehicle Locator data placed their city vehicle at the scene. The stop was not reported, their body cameras were not activated and they never placed themselves on a traffic-stop status. The former officers face charges including aggravated assault, aggravated robbery, kidnapping, threatening and intimidating, criminal damage, hindering prosecution and tampering with evidence. Phoenix also alleges that when Tempe police began tracing the victims’ abandoned vehicle, Vasquez and Felix took the follow-up assignment, checked the license plate, reported no contact at the owner’s home and denied conducting the stop. These charges and concealment claims remain allegations. Neither defendant has been convicted. 📄 Story tips, resources & support 👉 https://www.thinblueliesmedia.com Submit police accountability tips, bodycam footage, public records, court documents, and local story leads. 📄 Free Police Accountability Toolkit: https://www.thinblueliesmedia.com/resources ▶️ Watch the original Thin Blue Lies investigation: https://youtu.be/B99wY03aF00 SOURCES: Phoenix Police press conference: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A0pn_v5akN4 Arizona’s Family reporting: https://www.azfamily.com/2026/08/22/phoenix-officers-accused-violent-traffic-stop-arrested/ ABC15 reporting: https://www.abc15.com/news/local-news/investigations/two-phoenix-pd-cops-arrested-amid-criminal-investigation-into-violent-unreported-traffic-stop 👕 Merch: https://youtube.com/@thinblueliesmedia/store Thin Blue Lies, Baby! 👀 #PhoenixPolice #PoliceAccountability #PoliceMisconduct
