Comment: #bodycam #dui #arrest On October 13, 2023, at approximately 7:30 PM, Officers Jonathan Sinchi, Chris Fernandez, Alex Sanchez, and Paul Alvarado from the North Bergen Police Department responded to a two-vehicle accident on 46th Street near Smith Avenue. EMS South arrived first and was assisting the driver of a Honda Civic, later identified as 28-year-old Nerylix. Officer Sinchi observed that a 2021 Honda Civic, headed east, had collided with a 2021 Nissan on the left side and then hit a 2015 Mustang on the right. While speaking with the Mustang's owner at the scene, Officer Sinchi noted that the vehicle had significant damage to the front driver side. After talking to the Mustang owner, Officer Sinchi approached Officer Fernandez, who informed him that the 28-year-old Honda Civic driver had confessed to drinking. Officer Sinchi then spoke with Nerylix and observed that her eyes were red and glassy, her speech was slurred, and there was a strong smell of alcohol. Nerylix acknowledged that she had been drinking at a friend's house earlier, but it was clear to Officer Sinchi that she was downplaying how much she had consumed. Nerylix also claimed that another car had hit her from behind, which led her to crash into the parked Mustang. Due to her visible injuries, the officers chose not to conduct field sobriety tests. Officer Sinchi informed her that Emergency Medical Services would take her to the hospital. While they were on their way to Palisades Medical Center in the ambulance, Officer Sinchi told Nerylix that she was being arrested for driving under the influence and secured her to the stretcher with handcuffs. He asked for her permission to take a blood sample, and she initially agreed. After arriving at the hospital, Nerylix would not allow her blood to be tested. Because of her refusal, Officer Fernandez reached out to an Assistant Prosecutor, who then secured a warrant from Judge Lilia A. Munoz for her blood. Officer Fernandez went to the hospital to give the nurse the warrant forms, and a blood sample was collected. Officer Sinchi stored the sample in the evidence refrigerator at police headquarters. Eventually, Nerylix was released to a nurse at Palisades Medical Center after receiving a copy of the Potential Liability Warning form. The New Jersey State Police Office of Forensic Sciences reported her blood test results showed an ethyl alcohol level of 0.314% (g/100ml), which is nearly four times the legal limit of 0.08%. This was not her first offense; she had been arrested for DWI in Lodi, New Jersey, in July 2022, where her Alcotest reading was also 0.31%. Officer Sinchi issued Nerylix several summonses, including operating under the influence, refusal to submit to a chemical test, and reckless driving. If you enjoyed this BodyCamBust video .
