A routine check on a suspicious person escalates unexpectedly when an officer encounters a woman exhibiting clear signs of impairment while attempting to operate a vehicle. Responding to a report, a deputy offered a ride to an individual walking on a rural road. Upon arrival at the destination, the deputy observed a woman exiting a vehicle, holding a bowl of cereal, and showing an unsteady gait. Further investigation revealed a white powder residue in her nostrils, leading the officer to suspect impairment. She subsequently failed multiple standardized field sobriety exercises, including the Modified Romberg Balance, Horizontal Gaze Nystagmus, Walk and Turn, and One Leg Stand tests. Based on her inability to perform these tests and her attempt to operate a motor vehicle, she was placed under arrest for Physical Control of a Motor Vehicle. --- Transparency through the lens of the law.
