On January 23, 2025, Tulsa Police pulled over a man they recognized from a previous pursuit—35-year-old Michael Lee Spear. What began as a routine traffic stop near 51st and Union quickly turned volatile when Spear declared he was a sovereign citizen, claimed to be armed, and refused to comply with lawful commands. As officers attempted to detain him, Spear resisted, reached toward his waistband where he said his weapon was located, and a violent scuffle ensued. Officers discharged their weapons as Spear fled on foot. The pursuit continued through nearby fields before Spear managed to circle back to his truck and flee into a rural wooded area near Sand Springs. This bodycam footage captures the entire intense encounter—from the moment Spear invoked sovereign citizen rhetoric to the wild escape and ensuing manhunt. He was later arrested and charged with multiple felonies, including endangering others while eluding police and possession of a firearm during a felony while under DOC supervision. 👀 Watch until the end to see how it all unfolds because the ending has a twist!
