On January 1, 2022 I was on patrol in Fulton County. I was stopped at the intersection of Forsyth Street and Trinity Avenue where I observed a silver Lexus SUV pull into my travel lane and then reverse through the intersection and stop the travel lane blocking traffic. I activated my emergency equipment and exited my patrol car to make contact with the driver. As I approached the Lexus I could see the driver was intoxicated. Before I could make contact with the driver he fled in the vehicle initiating a pursuit. TFC Brown handled radio traffic as we continued southbound on Forsyth Street to Memorial Drive. We turned eastbound on Memorial Drive where we turned south on Pryor Road. As we turned onto Pryor Road I performed a PIT making contact to the right rear of the Lexus with the front left of my patrol car. The vehicle rotated clockwise and came to rest in the travel lane. The vehicle was still mobile and to prevent the pursuit from starting again I used the front of my patrol car to push the Lexus into the guardrail ending the pursuit. I exited my patrol car and drew my firearm taking a position of cover behind the Lexus. The driver exited the vehicle and I began to give commands. The driver reentered the vehicle and attempted to get the vehicle mobile again. I opened the driver's door and transitioned to my Taser deploying both cartridges which subdued the suspect and he was taken into custody. The subject was transported to Grady Hospital where he was medically cleared and then taken to Fulton County Jail and released to intake personnel.
