It really helps us do original reporting like this. 🔍 Episode Overview: At about 1:00 AM on February 12, 2023, Patrolman McDermott from the Princeton Police Department noticed a 2017 Subaru driving against traffic and hitting the curb. He followed the car as it swerved erratically and decided to pull it over. The vehicle stopped on Westcott Lane. The driver, 36-year-old Sasha P., showed signs of slurred speech and seemed confused about the stop. She told Officer McDermott she had finished her shift at the restaurant that night and admitted to drinking at the Alchemist & Barrier Restaurant & Pub afterwards. After noticing that Sasha seemed drunk, Patrolman McDermott called for his supervisor to come to the scene and conduct sobriety tests. Sergeant Navas arrived soon after. The first test was the Horizontal Gaze Nystagmus (HGN) test. During this, Patrolman McDermott noted that Sasha had difficulty with smooth eye movement and showed signs of nystagmus before reaching 45 degrees. The next test required Sasha to recite the alphabet, which she did well. She also successfully counted backwards for the third test. However, during the Walk and Turn test, Sasha struggled to follow the officer's instructions and did not perform well. The final test, the One Leg Stand, revealed that she had trouble balancing. Sasha was arrested for driving under the influence due to her previous traffic violations, erratic driving, and failure to complete all field sobriety tests. She was taken to the Princeton Police Headquarters, where she consented to a breathalyzer test. The breathalyzer showed her blood alcohol concentration at 0.16%, which surpasses the legal limit by double. After being processed, she was released into her husband's care after he signed a Potential Liability Warning on her behalf. She received multiple summonses, including driving while intoxicated, reckless driving, careless driving, failure to keep right, and driving the wrong way on a one-way street.
