Cryer was observed fleeing the location and deputies and detectives attempted to apprehend him. Based on the bodycam footage captured by an LMPD detective, Cryer ran through the alley in the 800 block of Sutcliffe Avenue, and he proceeded to retrieve a firearm from the left side of his waistband. As Cryer jumped a fence to the backyard of a home, you hear the detective say, "Drop the gun." Followed by, "Gun, gun, gun." To the right, off camera, is a Deputy U.S. Marshal who fired two rounds from his firearm striking Cryer. LMPD officers did not discharge their weapons. Other deputies and detectives rendered aid to Cryer while awaiting EMS. EMS responded to the area and pronounced Cryer deceased at the scene.
