It really helps us do original reporting like this. 🔍 Episode Overview: Corporal Daniel Parrish of Washington Township Police responded to a crash. It happened around 6:28 PM on November 1, 2023. A 2019 Honda was involved on Parker Road. The driver’s husband met Parrish. He said his wife crashed into a tree. She was very drunk, he explained. The neighbor was also there. He told Parrish he called 911. He saw the car hit his tree. Parrish then spoke with the driver, Laura. She said she swerved for a deer. Sergeant James Burns arrived soon after. The officers waited for her children to leave. Then they started tests. Parrish began with an eye test. He watched her eyes closely. They did not move smoothly. They jerked at the end. They started jerking before 45 degrees. The next test was walking and turning. Laura nearly fell over. They had to stop the test. The last test was standing on one foot. Laura refused this test. Parrish arrested Laura for drunk driving. The crash, her drinking admission, and the failed tests led to the arrest. A car search found an open container. Her car was impounded for 12 hours. This followed John’s Law. Parrish took Laura to the police station. At the station, Laura heard the rules. She agreed to give breath samples. Her breath test showed a BAC of 0.30%. This was nearly four times the legal limit. Her husband signed papers. Laura was released to him. She must appear in court. She received tickets for drunk driving, reckless driving, lane traffic, and an open container. Court records show Laura pleaded guilty. This was on March 21, 2024. The reckless driving ticket was lowered. She must go to an alcohol center for 48 hours. She must use an ignition lock for 3 months. She paid $930 in fines.
