It really helps us do original reporting like this. 🔍 Episode Overview: June 22, 2023, was a quiet night. At 11:56 PM, that changed for Patrolman David DiLauri. He got a call about a strange car. It was parked on Brooklyn Road in Stanhope, NJ. DiLauri found a 2020 Jeep truck. The driver was Shannon, age 21. DiLauri knew her from a liquor store visit. Soon, Sergeant Ryan Hickman arrived. He saw an open alcohol container inside the Jeep. Patrolman DiLauri then started a DWI investigation. Patrolman DiLauri thought Shannon was impaired. He asked her to do some sobriety tests. Shannon first tried to say the alphabet from E to X. She failed twice. Next, she took the Horizontal Gaze Nystagmus (HGN) test. Then, she tried the Walk and Turn test. Shannon failed to walk heel-to-toe on the parking lot line. Finally, she did the One Leg Stand test. She could not raise her foot right and lost her balance. The call about a suspicious vehicle started it all. An open alcohol container was in plain sight. Shannon struggled with sobriety tests. She even confessed to drinking before driving. Patrolman DiLauri arrested her for driving under the influence. DiLauri searched her car while Sergeant Hickman spoke with Shannon. Hickman asked her about her alcohol consumption. Shannon admitted to having a few drinks at a bowling alley. This was before she drove. DiLauri's search revealed more. He found a Coors Light bottle. A White Claw Hard Seltzer can was also there. Lastly, he discovered a can of Arnold Palmer Spiked. Shannon's arrest led to a chain of events that night. Her car was towed. Police took her to the Stanhope station. Shannon took a breath test at the station. After processing, she was let go. She now awaits her court date in Andover. Patrolman DiLauri gave her three tickets. These included driving under the influence.
