Just after 6 a.m. on March 4, 2025, the Flagler County Sheriff's Office served a narcotics search warrant on a rural property on Nutwood Avenue in Bunnell, Florida. The lot held four RVs and a modular home. The Sheriff's Office Special Investigations Unit ran the warrant with the Flagler County and Putnam County SWAT teams after what it described as an undercover operation. A neighbor had put a sign in their own yard reading, in the Sheriff's words, "drug house next house." Deputies said they seized methamphetamine, cannabis, drug paraphernalia and several firearms from the property. Inside one of the RVs, according to the Sheriff's Office, they found a child and two dogs living in what it called deplorable conditions. Both dogs appeared emaciated and had untreated skin infections. The Florida Department of Children and Families took custody of the child. Flagler Animal Services took the dogs. Everyone on the property was brought out and detained under a carport while the structures were searched. This is that footage, from the deputies' body cameras. WHO WAS CHARGED David Price, 38, and Clara Sands-Benefield, 30, who deputies said lived in the RV where the child and dogs were found, were arrested for child neglect and animal cruelty. Price was also charged with possession of less than 20 grams of cannabis and possession of drug paraphernalia. Both posted bond and were released the same day. Margaret Rush, 55, and Howard Crouch, 53, were arrested for possession of methamphetamine and possession of drug paraphernalia. Rush was released to pretrial supervision the next morning; Crouch posted bond two days later. Jail records show Crouch had been arrested for methamphetamine possession in April 2024 and had been released from the county jail six weeks before this warrant. No one was charged with selling, manufacturing or trafficking drugs, and no one was charged with a firearms offense. WHAT HAPPENED NEXT As of September 2026 we could not find a plea, sentence or dismissal on the public record for any of the four. Court records show Rush tested positive for drugs while on pretrial release in May 2025 and spent nine days in jail in June 2025 for violating her release conditions. Nothing further has been published about the child or the dogs. Every person in this video is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law. A charge is an accusation, not a conviction. FOOTAGE Body-worn camera video from the Flagler County Sheriff's Office, recorded March 4, 2025, from multiple deputies' cameras, plus Sheriff's Office drone footage of the property. Faces of the child and of residents who were not charged have been blurred. Profanity and the street address have been muted.
