REAL POLICE BODYCAM footage shows Effingham County Sheriff's deputies interviewing a victim who describes a violent assault while trying to protect her child. This bodycam video captures the detailed account of a harrowing domestic violence incident. In this police bodycam footage, the victim provides a disturbing play-by-play of the assault: "The next thing I know I'm being punched in the throat and I turned and I smacked him and grabbed ahold of my son and threw him on the other side of me." Her protective instincts as a mother are clear in this bodycam recording as she describes shielding her child from harm. The victim continues her account to officers, describing how the assault escalated: "And then he punched me in the jaw and put the truck in drive and the door was still open." This critical moment captured on police bodycam reveals how the situation became even more dangerous. She explains that her son "Lane had backed up quite a bit. He wasn't anywhere near the vehicle. He was up by the corner of the building." The bodycam footage then captures her describing the final violent act: "And then I see Alex's foot come up and I get shoved out" - indicating she was forcibly ejected from a moving vehicle. The bodycam footage also reveals a disturbing pattern when officers ask, "Does this happen often? Your son's telling people he beats you a lot. And that's a 5-year-old son." This suggests the young child has been witnessing and reporting ongoing abuse. In a candid moment captured on the police bodycam, an officer provides realistic advice about her safety: "I would to be completely honest with you to save you a lot of heartache in the long run I would probably just move out and move back in with your mom. Because with the judge getting your protection the judge can rule that he can't live there. However if it's his house and he pays the bills he's just going to stop paying the bills right." According to official reports, the Effingham County Sheriff's Office arrested 30-year-old Alexander T. N. Roberts of Neoga following this incident. He was charged with aggravated domestic battery and child endangerment before being transported to the Effingham County Jail. This police bodycam footage provides a detailed account of a violent domestic assault and highlights both the dangers victims face and the challenges in finding lasting safety.
