What began with an Arkansas State Trooper spotting a motorcycle without a license plate quickly developed into an extremely high-speed nighttime pursuit through Springdale. According to the official report, Trooper Bailey Bowers was patrolling southbound on Thompson Street near West Randall Wobbe Lane when a black street-bike-style motorcycle passed in the opposite direction. The motorcycle reportedly had no license plate, and its rider was dressed entirely in black. Trooper Bowers made a U-turn to initiate a traffic stop. Before the trooper even activated his emergency lights, the rider allegedly made an unsafe lane change between two vehicles and began accelerating. Once Bowers activated his emergency lights, the motorcycle rapidly accelerated northbound on Thompson Street. The trooper notified dispatch that he was in pursuit and activated his siren. The speed quickly climbed to an extraordinary level. According to the report, the motorcycle reached approximately 140 MPH before turning westbound onto Pleasant Grove Road. With the rider continuing through the darkness and the trooper attempting to maintain visual contact, the pursuit headed toward Dixieland Road.
