On November 28, 2024, Farmington Police Officers responded to a single car motor vehicle accident. When the first officer arrived, he found the 20-year-old driver sitting outside of the destroyed vehicle tending to her badly injured passenger. The driver indicated that the injured passenger had been in the backseat of the vehicle. Officers then became suspicious that a 3rd person had been in the vehicle. The driver initially denied this, but eventually admitted that a male passenger was in the front seat of the vehicle when it crashed and he fled on foot. Paramedics treated the female passenger and transported her to the hospital. The driver, who admitted to consuming alcohol, was asked to perform standardized field sobriety tests, which she denied. She was placed under arrest and was read the New Mexico Implied Consent Law. She refused to consent to a blood draw, so officers applied for and were granted a search warrant for her blood. After the blood draw, the woman was transported to the County Jail. Her charges and the outcome of her case, as well as an update on the condition of her friend, are listed at the end of the video.
