** (Disclaimer: This video content is intended for educational and informational purposes only) ** The Ohio State Highway Patrol released dash-cam video of a trooper being hit by a car last Friday while he was making a traffic stop. Sergeant Jim Smith with the Chardon Post was talking to another driver on the side of the road when a car crashed into his cruiser and also hit him. Smith was released from the hospital on Monday, August 1. The at-fault driver was not injured, and the Patrol is still investigating. The Patrol said that this crash serves as a reminder for all drivers to move over when they see law enforcement stopped on the side of the road: “All drivers should move over to an adjacent lane when approaching any vehicle with flashing or rotating lights parked on the roadside, according to Ohio law.
