#bodycampov #news #police #arrest #cops #fraud Report: On 6/13/2022, at approximately 1400, I responded to the Homewood Suites, in reference to a theft in progress. Upon arrival, I made contact with the front desk attendant who reported that she had received a phone call from the victim reporting that his reward account information had been stolen and that there was a current fraudulent stay showing on his rewards app. She reported that the party from the fraudulent reservation was in Room #115, and had checked in using the rewards account number associated with the victim and that the room was still occupied by that party. I then made contact with the general manager of the business, who reported that a female had checked in on June 11th, 2022, under the girlfriends name using the reward account information belonging to the victim and provided a credit card. She reported that the room was paid for using reward points which the business would now have to refund to the victim resulting in the business losing $310.41 from the deceptive use of the reward points by the female who checked into the hotel. She also reported that there were outstanding charges on the room for items purchased in the "Suite Shop", valued at $84.24 and that due to the state of the room, there would be an additional $250.00 smoking fee charged. Taplin reported that those charges would typically be charged to the credit card on file with the hotel, the one provided by the female at check-in, but that the card was declining, resulting in an additional theft of services totaling $334.24. Contact was then made with associate that checked the individuals into the hotel. She confirmed that the girlfriend had checked into the hotel using the rewards points from the victims account and provided a credit card. They were able to provide a printed invoice for both the stay and the extra expenses, as well as a receipt from where the card provided was declining and the card number provided. She also reported that one of the males staying in the room grabbed a handful of keys from the valet stand and then returned them stating that he was just kidding. They reported that they were missing a set of keys belonging to a Toyota and a Nissan. During the conversation with the hotel staff, individuals began to exit Room #115. The male was then seen attempting to exit Room #115, the male was told to stop and began attempting to run away from the police on scene. He was then detained and when identified gave false information regarding his identity. He was placed under arrest and a white powder and white crystal-like substance consistent with methamphetamine were found on his person.
