On Wednesday November 10, 2021 at approximately 2041 hours, I, Officer Lafave, was on duty in full uniform displaying my badge of office, and in a marked NMSP patrol vehicle within the County of Bernalillo State of New Mexico working a DWI checkpoint located on the northbound Frontage Road near Mountain Road. This checkpoint was supervised by NMSP Sergeant Ward in which I also attended the briefing. I was assigned to watch for vehicles that turn around to avoid the DWI checkpoint. At this time, I observed a white Mercedes passenger vehicle, bearing NM Registration , traveling towards the checkpoint. I then observed this vehicle stop then backup against traffic. I conduct a traffic high risk traffic stop and made contact with the male driver, later identified and removed him from this vehicle. Once out of the vehicle speaking with Defendant I smelled the strong odor of an alcoholic beverage emitting from Defendants breath. I also noticed his eyes were bloodshot and watery. Defendant was aware for the reason for our contact. Defendant also admitted to consuming 1 beer prior to our contact. https://www.patreon.com/UnfilteredMedia 5-0 PATROL provides unbiased and authentic footage of incidents captured on body cams.
