A sunny beach day takes an unexpected turn when officers respond to reports of public indecency, leading to a formal law enforcement encounter. Responding to a dispatch at approximately 12:36 PM on June 12, 2025, regarding two individuals reportedly engaged in sexual activity on the beach, Patrolwoman Amy Beringer, Sergeant Edward Junquet, and Special Officer Ayana Contreras proceeded to the location via a private entrance. Upon locating the couple, later identified as Amanda Mohr and Edgar Dillon, officers initiated contact; Amanda was initially topless and was asked to put on a shirt. Sergeant Junquet engaged nearby witnesses, one of whom provided video evidence confirming the public indecency, solidifying the grounds for arrest. Both Amanda and Edgar were subsequently advised they were under arrest for lewdness, allowed to dress and collect their belongings, and then transported separately by Special Officer Contreras and Sergeant Junquet to the Monmouth Beach Police Department for processing. Following their processing, and after Patrolwoman Beringer collected additional written witness statements, both individuals were issued summonses for Lewdness – Observed by Others (2C:14-4A) and released pending their court appearances.
