A gas station parking lot became the scene of a disturbing incident when witnesses reported an intoxicated mother attempting to abandon her young children, leading to a police pursuit and her subsequent arrest. On June 11, 2024, at a gas station, witnesses observed a woman, later identified as Amber Adams, in a visibly intoxicated state. Reports indicated she allegedly grabbed her baby "from the arm" and "tossed the baby to the ground," with the infant fortunately caught by a nearby individual. She then reportedly attempted to remove her other child from the car, but a passenger intervened. Despite these alarming actions, Adams subsequently drove away from the gas station with her children still inside the vehicle, prompting concerned witnesses to alert law enforcement. Police tracked Adams's vehicle, a tan 2012 Cadillac SRX, to a Deer Creek neighborhood. Upon locating the vehicle, officers found Adams exiting from the passenger side, carrying a blanket and other items, and refusing to follow instructions. She exhibited severe signs of intoxication, including slurred speech, disorganized thinking, and a powerful odor of alcohol. During her detention, Adams made multiple erratic and shifting statements, admitting at one point to intending to leave her children at the gas station to engage in sexual activity and later hallucinating about a third child jumping from the car. This led to an extensive search by officers, who eventually located all children safe with a family member. Child welfare services were contacted, and a caseworker arrived to take custody of all children, opening a child welfare case. Adams was arrested on charges including child neglect and public intoxication. Officers noted she was already on probation in Florida for an unrelated child neglect case, underscoring a concerning pattern.
