On December 4, 2021 at approximately 7:17 AM, Deputy Brian Keller of the Whitman County Sheriff’s Office responded to an accident involving a 1999 Volkswagen Jetta in the vicinity of Beeson Cutt-off Road and Estes Road in Pullman, WA. He noticed that the vehicle was in a ditch and the stop sign and road sign were under the front of the vehicle in the ditch. The guardrail had been damaged as well. He proceeded to make contact with the driver, who was identified as 24-year-old Danielle Greer. Danielle immediately admitted to having consumed alcohol in the hours prior and told the Deputy that she probably should not have been driving. Deputy Keller detected the odor of alcohol and noticed that Danielle’s eyes were bloodshot and her speech was slurred. Based on the indicators of impairment, Deputy Keller told Danielle that she would be afforded an opportunity to perform voluntary field sobriety exercises. The first exercise involved the Horizontal Gaze Nystagmus (HGN), where Deputy Keller observed the lack of smooth pursuit, distinct and sustained nystagmus at maximum deviation, and the onset of nystagmus prior to 45 degrees in both eyes. The second exercise was the Walk and Turn test, and Danielle displayed a lack of balance and did not walk heel-to-toe as instructed. Deputy Keller attempted to administer the One Leg Stand as well, but ultimately terminated the test when he noticed that Danielle was unable to maintain her balance. Following the field sobriety exercises, Danielle was asked to voluntarily take a PBT test. The results indicated a BAC of 0.237%, which is nearly triple the legal limit. Based on her inability to adequately perform the field sobriety exercises and the results of her PBT test, Deputy Keller placed Danielle under arrest for driving under the influence. Her vehicle was towed by Autobody Supercenter and Danielle was subsequently transported to the Whitman County Jail to be processed. Once she was at the jail, Deputy Keller read her the Constitutional rights, and Danielle waived them by agreeing to answer questions. During the interview process, Danielle admitted to driving the vehicle under the influence. Deputy Keller read the Implied Consent Warnings to Danielle, and after she completed the observation period, she agreed to take a breathalyzer test. Her Alcotest results indicated a BAC of 0.199%, which was more than double the legal limit of 0.08%. After the breathalyzer test, Danielle was formally booked into the Whitman County Jail and released pending her first court appearance after she posted bond. She was cited under RCW 46.61.502 for Driving under the Influence (DUI). On March 24, 2022, Danielle pleaded guilty to 46.61.502 and 46.61.506 - Driving While Under the Influence. She was sentenced to 1 day in jail (with an option to convert to 15 days of EHM) and 24 months of supervised probation. She was also ordered to pay a DUI Cost Recovery Fee of $173.08, a $60 supervised probation fee, and a $43 Criminal Conviction Fee. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Please LIKE, SUBSCRIBE, and consider supporting this channel (email us for more information).
