Pursuit Leads to Narcotics and Currency Seizure of over $30,000 Houma – On Friday May 5, 2018 at 11:27 pm, a Louisiana state Trooper with Troop C attempted to stop a 2013 Chevrolet Silverado for a traffic offense. The driver identified as Byron, was observed traveling south on LA 24 near Howard Avenue when the Trooper observed a traffic violation. As the Trooper attempted to conduct a traffic stop, byron sped away and after a short pursuit, he abandoned his vehicle by a nearby subdivision and was able to escape on foot. The Trooper searched Byron truck and located approximately four ounces of Heroin, valued at $28,600.00, approximately 1/4 ounce of Fentanyl powder, 74 Hydrocodone pills, one ounce of Marijuana,& $4,727.00 in US currency, and a loaded handgun in the vehicle. The troopers lost track of Byron but did a quick search of his truck! And in the search of the truck The trooper located approximately four ounces of Heroin, valued at $28,600.00, approximately 1/4 ounce of Fentanyl powder, 74 Hydrocodone pills, one ounce of Marijuana,& $4,727.00 in US currency, and a loaded handgun in the vehicle. Byron was positively identified as the driver and Troopers obtained warrants for his arrest. The next day on May 6, 2018, byron was arrested by the Houma Police Department on unrelated narcotics charges. Troopers met with Nevis at the Terrebonne Parish Criminal Justice Center and booked him on the active warrants. Nevis was charged with Two Counts of Possession With Intent to Distribute a Schedule I Controlled Dangerous Substances (Heroin and Fentanyl), Possession With Intent to Distribute CDS II (Hydrocodone), Possession of Marijuana, Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon, Possession of a Firearm in the Presence of Narcotics, Transactions Involving Drug Proceeds, Aggravated Flight From an Officer, and Reckless Operation of Vehicle. #StateBoys #BodyCamera #police
