On September 7, 2024, Rio Rancho Police Officers responded to a single car motor vehicle accident. The reporting party indicated they heard a crash and there was a Jeep parked in his driveway. Officer Snipes arrived first and met with the 46-year-old driver of the Jeep. Since she admitted to consuming alcohol, Officer Salido was called to initiate a DWI investigation. When Officer Salido arrived, he asked the woman how drunk she felt on a 1 to 10 scale. Without hesitation, she admitted that she was a 10. She agreed to perform standardized field sobriety tests, but performed very poorly on them. She was then arrested for DWI and was transported to the Rio Rancho police station. After being read the Implied Consent Law, she refused to submit to a breath test, which elevated her charge to Aggravated DWI.
