A chilling hit-and-run incident in Albuquerque has led to murder charges against a 13-year-old boy after a disturbing video surfaced online. The footage, allegedly recorded from inside a stolen vehicle, captures the moment the teen deliberately swerved into a bike lane, fatally striking 63-year-old Scott Dwight Habermehl as he rode to work at Sandia National Laboratory. Authorities say the 13-year-old, believed to be the driver, and a 15-year-old accomplice face multiple charges, including murder, conspiracy, leaving the scene of a fatal accident, and illegal possession of a firearm. An 11-year-old also involved in the incident is too young to be charged with murder, but prosecutors are determining what charges he may face. The video, widely shared on social media, reportedly captures a chilling exchange where one suspect suggests “bumping” the cyclist moments before impact. The graphic footage was reported to police by a middle school principal after a student flagged it. The 13-year-old is expected to be booked into juvenile detention while authorities continue searching for the other two suspects.
