On November 19, 2024, La Crosse police were tipped off that Dayton Allen, a wanted felon with a history of resisting arrest, was arriving on the 358 Amtrak Train. Officers confirmed Allen had an active felony warrant and set up at the station. When officers approached, Allen took off on foot but was tackled and restrained. While awaiting medical evaluation, he managed to slip out of his handcuffs and tried to escape again—this time toward the train tracks! Officers quickly took him down again and secured him. At the La Crosse County Jail, a search of his bag revealed a concealed 9mm handgun. Allen now faces multiple charges, including escaping criminal arrest, resisting causing injury, felony bail jumping, and carrying a concealed weapon.
