Officer Keenan spoke first with the driver of a black 2013 Honda Accord, later identified as 23-year-old Brianna Martinez. Her airbags had deployed, and the front of the car had extensive damage. It had struck a parked 2016 Honda Accord and a 2024 Kia Sportage. First responders checked Brianna because of the crash and airbag deployment, but she refused transport to a hospital. While officers spoke with her, they smelled alcohol and noticed other signs of impairment. They then asked her to complete field sobriety exercises. Brianna first took the Horizontal Gaze Nystagmus test, followed by the Walk and Turn. During the Walk and Turn, she failed to touch heel-to-toe and took the wrong number of steps. The final exercise, the One Leg Stand, ended early because she would not cooperate. Because of the crash, the odor of alcohol, and her poor performance on the exercises, Officer Sammarone arrested Brianna for driving under the influence. Her car was impounded for the required 12-hour hold under John's Law. Officer Sammarone then took her to the Elmwood Park Police Department for processing. At the station, officers read Brianna the Standard Statement for Motor Vehicle Operators. She refused to provide breath samples. Throughout the processing, she was extremely rude to the officers. Once the process was complete, Brianna was released to a friend before her court date. The friend signed the Potential Liability Warning form on her behalf. Brianna received the following traffic citations: Operating under the influence (39:4-50) Taking of breath samples (39:3-10.24) Refusal to submit to chemical test (39:4-50.4A) Reckless driving (39:4-96) Careless driving (39:4-97) Traffic on marked lanes - unsafe lane change (39:4-88B) Careless driving no accident involving personal injury (19:9-1.17) Unsafe operation of a vehicle (39:4-97.2) Failure to make repairs (39:8-4) Vehicle in unsafe condition (39:3-44) On December 2, 2025, Brianna pleaded guilty to operating under the influence. She was ordered to spend 12 hours at an intoxicated driver resource center, use an ignition interlock device for three months, and pay $640 in fines. Under a plea deal arranged by her public defender, the remaining nine citations were dismissed. If you enjoyed this BodyCamBust video.
