Following a witness report of a black 2016 Jeep driving erratically and damaging property, an officer located and stopped the vehicle. During the initial interaction, the officer noted several indicators of impairment, including the driver's slurred speech and admitted alcohol consumption, prompting a request for field sobriety exercises. As the Horizontal Gaze Nystagmus test commenced, the officer made the decisive call to terminate the remaining exercises due to concerns for the driver's safety, leading directly to an arrest for driving under the influence. A subsequent search of the vehicle revealed an open container of alcohol, and the vehicle was impounded, with the driver transported for processing.
