On October 27, 2023, officers in Savannah, Georgia responded to an active robbery at a Wells Fargo Bank. The suspect — later identified as David Wayne Stanley — had already fled the scene, prompting police to clear the bank, secure witness statements, and begin a plaza-wide canvas for surveillance footage. Bodycam footage shows officers checking for clues at nearby businesses — including a grocery store, oil change shop, car wash, and Ace Hardware. Eventually, the FBI took over, using surveillance resources to track the suspect’s getaway vehicle. Stanley was a convicted serial bank robber, with seven prior Texas convictions and another Savannah robbery in 2016. In June 2024, he pleaded guilty to this new charge and was sentenced to 160 months in federal prison, plus another year for violating supervised release. 👉 Was justice served — or should serial offenders face even harsher sentences?
