A routine traffic stop quickly unravels into a serious DUI investigation as an officer confronts an impaired driver. On September 15, 2023, an officer initiated a traffic stop after observing a vehicle commit multiple infractions, including failing to signal and nearly striking a curb. Upon contact, the officer detected signs of impairment from the 19-year-old driver, who displayed watery, bloodshot eyes and an odor of alcohol. Despite being offered field sobriety exercises, the driver was uncooperative and refused, leading to an arrest for driving under the influence. At the police department, the driver was read her Miranda rights and the Implied Consent Warning, subsequently agreeing to provide breath samples which registered a blood alcohol content of 0.179%.
