He was on duty with the Hillsborough Township Police. Near Concord Street, a 2020 Honda Civic came up close behind him and swerved between lanes. Sakers let it pass, then turned on his lights and stopped it near Lexington Street. He radioed in the stop and approached the driver, 25-year-old Alison. Alison was uncooperative from the start and ignored Sakers when he told her to stay in the car. She said she was heading home after bartending. Sakers called for another officer to help with sobriety tests. Officers Vincent Gennaro and Joseph Randazzo arrived within minutes. They thought Alison seemed impaired, so Gennaro began testing her ability to drive safely. Gennaro started with the Horizontal Gaze Nystagmus test. Alison moved her head too much, and he confirmed four of the six signs of impairment. During the Walk and Turn test, she missed the heel-to-toe steps and lost count. She also struggled with the One Leg Stand, raising her foot incorrectly, miscounting, and putting it down too soon. Her driving had been erratic, and the smell of alcohol hung in the air. Alison also admitted she had been drinking. After she failed the field sobriety tests, officers arrested her for driving under the influence. Her car was impounded under John’s Law for a 12-hour hold. Gennaro took Alison to the Hillsborough Township Police Department for processing. At the station, Alison heard the Motor Vehicle Operator statement and agreed to provide breath samples. The Alcotest measured her blood alcohol level at 0.15 percent, nearly twice the legal limit of 0.08 percent. During processing, she made comments that concerned the officers, who decided she needed medical care at a hospital. Gennaro placed Alison in the patrol car for the trip, while Sakers and Randazzo followed. She was difficult to manage, and officers removed her from the car because they feared she might hurt herself. They called an ambulance, and medics secured her on a stretcher. Gennaro rode with her to the hospital. Her belongings and tickets were brought to the hospital, where staff took over her care. Alison received several tickets, including charges for driving under the influence, reckless driving, careless driving, and following too closely. She was also cited for other traffic violations and for failing to show her insurance and driver’s license. If you enjoyed this BodyCamBust video.
