On May 21, 2024, around 5:14 a.m., Lake County Sheriff’s deputies responded to a report that Chad Scott Claycomb was attempting suicide by hanging himself with a cord. Claycomb fled the residence in a gray Ram 2500 truck and later refused to comply during a traffic stop. When deputies returned to the residence, he locked himself inside with his wife and children. As deputies attempted to maintain visual contact, Claycomb became aggressive, leading to a physical struggle. During the arrest, he kicked a deputy in the chest, dislodging the deputy’s body camera. Claycomb was restrained, arrested, and transported to the Lake County Jail, where bond was set at $15,000.
