Deputies in Arizona responded to a report of an erratic female walking inside of a convenience store waving a gun in her hand. The responding deputies made contact with the suspect, Brenda Thomas, who was uncooperative and combative with police. They were able to take her into custody for disorderly conduct with a weapon and resisting arrest. When a plain clothes detective escorted her outside in handcuffs, Brenda Thomas somehow grabbed the detective’s duty weapon out of its holster. He tried to stop her, however she discharged the weapon and shot him, causing non-life-threatening injuries to his finger. Another Deputy on scene tased Ms. Thomas, who was no longer armed with the Deputy’s weapon, but continued to be combative. Ms. Thomas was not injured in the shooting. 0:00 Deputy Arrives 0:21 Put the gun down 1:01 Combative Meth Head 2:36 Back up arrives 3:43 in custody 4:06 Parking lot shooting 6:46 Manager statement 8:29 Miranda 11:15 Booking
