This was a smuggling attempt from California all the way to Atlanta, unfortunately for these guys they only made it half way. ( massive red flag was driving a rental vehicle ) They were pulled over in Texas for following a vehicle too closely, lucky for them the officer did not search their vehicle. Their luck ran out when shortly after they were pulled over a 2nd time in an unrelated stop for crossing the white line into the right shoulder. They were immediately suspicious that the 2nd stop was a result of the first stop, it was not but it set the tone for a somewhat confrontational encounter. The officer interviewed both the driver and passenger separately and became suspicious when their stories did not match. She then asked both people for consent to search the vehicle, which they both declined. That resulted in a K9 sniff search of the exterior of the vehicle which provided a hit and gave her probably cause for a full search of the vehicle. While searching the interior of the vehicle the officer located bags that had locks on them. They gave the suspects a chance to unlock the baggage which they declined. The locks were then cut and several bricks of cocaine were located. Ultimately the passenger took responsibility for the bags and was charged with possession with intent to distribute, he pleaded guilty and was sentenced to 87 months in prison. The driver was not charged. 00:11 Traffic Stop 01:30 Driver Interviewed 03:23 Passenger Interviewed 07:00 Consent to Search? 11:15 K9 Sniff Search 12:40 Interior Search
