On March 23, 2024, Ohio Highway Patrol Trooper Burch stopped a vehicle for having no taillights or headlights. The vehicle was being driven by a 46-year-old woman. She appeared to have an open 24 count of Coors on the floor and an open beer can in her cup holder. She spent several minutes unsuccessfully trying to locate her driver's license. Finally, Trooper Burch asked her to step out of her vehicle. She was so intoxicated that she could not balance and had difficulty understanding directions. She was placed under arrest for Operating a Vehicle Impaired (OVI) and was transported to the Ohio Highway Patrol post. She agreed to submit to an evidential breath test, which consisted of providing 2 breath samples. The first one was 0.420% BAC and the second sample registered 0.429% BAC. Troopers commented that they had never seen a breath alcohol concentration that high before and based on their training, they felt the woman was in immediate danger of suffering from alcohol poisoning. As a result, EMS was called and the woman was transported to the emergency room. Her charges and the outcome of her case are listed at the end of the video.
